This is why I like Lowes

We decied to get a new shower in the master bath due to the old one cracking and leaking everywhere. So I go down to Lowes and after having some issues finding it in the computer, I manage to custom order a shower and wall kit. I placed the order on Jan 21 after 7 at night and was told the estimated delivery date on it was Feb 1. Not bad, 2 weeks for a custom shower to be delivered. Friday the 25th I get a phone call that the shower was in and ready to be picked up. Sure enough there it was, ready to be picked up 9 days early. That beats the hell out of the 4-6 weeks late that Home Depot managed to get my last special order. From now on its Lowes only for all my special orders.

That being said, I’m working on the bathroom and will start posting photos of it soon.

I’m sore all over

We went up to Mad River Mountian this last Saturday evening skiing. Well Danny and I went Snowboarding and Kristi went skiing. I really need to go get a new board if I am going to keep going. The 157cm board I own is just a tad too short for me and I’d like something with the step in bindings that the rental systems at MRM has. Much easier to get around with then the clicker type bindings. We were on the slopes from 4-9:30 and I’m just a little sore in the legs and arms. I am really sore on my left hip. I had a major wipe out half way through the night that slammed that hip right into the ground and its bruising really nicely. It was a lot of fun and we are looking at going back here in a week or so if the snow holds up. If any one wants to meet us there let me know!

Next home project

Next project - Replacing the master shower. Once again due to the construction of the house, more specifically the finishing work, we have found an issue and are having to spend a lot of money to fix it. What is going on is that the seal between the shower door and the shower wall was not installed for long time useage and it fell apart before we looked at the house. This has lead to water slowly leaking out into the drywall and ruining it. This has now lead to the water getting under the vinal flooring and ruining that too in an area of about 2 sq ft. The issue is that the shower consists of plastic sheets just glued to sheets of drywall so I can’t just repair the drywall, I have to pull out the sheets and they are already cracking so I know as soon as I pull they will break and I need a new shower. I already ordered a 3 piece replacemnet so we do not need to worry about the breaking of the sheets as much anymore.

Issue where MI Home gets me at is they installed a 32*48 shower base, do you know how rare that is? I only found 2 models in total at Lowes and Home Depot that come in that size. Standerd sizes are 32*32, 34*48, 36*48, 34*60 and 36*60. I opted for the 34*48 and will redo the plumbing to the shower. Once the parts start coming in I’ll start taking photos so I can document the process.

Funny Colbert report

I was crying in bed when Colbert was given the ink pen.

First class is the only way

Last week I spent in TX for training on my new job role, I figured it would be a nice break from the cold around here… WRONG. It was as cold there as it was back here for most the time. On Friday when I got to the airport the check in machine offered me the chance to upgrade to First class for $90. Looking at Coach it looked like I had a choice between a Window seat near the engine, my assigned seat near the middle but with 2 people beside me or a few middle seat choices. None of these really appealed to me after spending the entire week in training sessions and cooped up in the hotel. I decided to spring for the upgrade if nothing else to get the leg room since its cramped in coach when you are 6′2″ and have long legs. First class is nice but in reality its just a seat on a plane so its not worth much more then I paid for it unless you were doing an international flight and needed to strech out more.

American is nice enough to serve warm nuts, fresh baked cookies, free mixed drinks, and lots of leg room. All the First Class seats have power outlets also for recharging of devices so that is a major plus.

Wiimote whiteboards and vacuum tubes?

Have you ever needed to know how to create a Electric roach motel or How to make a vacuum tube I stumbled across a really cool site devoded to hardware hacking:

Hackaday.com

Seth, this one might work for you: PSP Internal Hard drive mod.

This one looks really cool: Wii hacks. They have stufff like how to turn a Wiimote into a IR reciever to do stuff like multi touch displays and interactive whiteboards.

Poor puppy

I had to take Hana to the vet today because she’s been having some bladder control issues and we think she might hace a UTI or a bladder infection. I walked in and the Vet was in surgery and couldn’t take a look at her for a few hours so I ended up leaving her there. She actaully looked happy to be playing with the Vet Tech that took her. Granted that was after she went pee on the floor when the Vet tech kneeled to pet her. I ended up leaving her there and need to go back to pick her up in a bit. Hopefully she’ll get over this little infection and learn house braking again.

Party Time!

Over the last few days I’ve uploaded a ton of photos to the gallery so keep an eye out there for lots more in the near future. Also I’m starting to draft up some logo designs for the top of the page so let me know what you like on them when I post them.

Tonight is Lori and Jerrod’s going away party as they move to HI. I’m envious of getting to live in Hawaii for 6 months but I will miss jumping with them once it warms up here again.
